You must wear a face mask covering the nose, mouth and chin when outside your residence. This includes all indoor and outdoor public places. Children under 3 years and persons with severe medical conditions are exempt. Malta has temporarily banned travel from countries with known cases of the Omicron COVID-19 variant. This includes South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana, Eswatini and Zimbabwe. Travel from Australia is not currently banned, however requirements may change at short notice. From 27 December, standing social events are banned. From 17 January 2022, full vaccination certificates are required for entry to a wide range of public venues.
